Mission Statement: Cayenne Children’s Foundation

The primary goal of Cayenne Children’s Foundation will be to serve homeless children (ages birth through 16) and their families as well as adolescents who were once a part of the foster care system. Cayenne Children’s Foundation intends to make available its programs after the second year of the opening of Cayenne Wellness Center (Fall, 2007). Once the Wellness Center has been established, efforts will be made to request grant funding for the following programs. In addition, a staff comprised of volunteers, an Assistant Director, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists, will be hired. The services to be provided will be targeted towards:

  1. Homeless children
  2. Initially, to sponsor four (4) families a year (2 families every 6 months) which consists of:

    • housing (we will provide and pay for a clean living space for the child(ren) and their parents/guardians)
    • job re-training, career counseling and continuing education for the parent(s)/guardian(s)
    • participation in group seminars on nutrition and health promotion at the Wellness Center at no cost
    • child care assistance or after school program financial assistance
    • mental health evaluation and treatment for children and their parents/guardians

  3. Homeless adolescents/young adults
  4. Initial sponsorship of four (4) adolescents each year (2 adolescents every 6
months) with a prior foster care history. Namely, to assist those adolescents
who are suddenly asked to leave their foster care home, are no longer eligible for the system and its services, and faced with no where to go. Services provided will consists of:

    • housing (we will provide and pay for a clean living space)
    • job training, career counseling and continuing education
    • participation in group seminars on nutrition and health promotion at the Wellness Center at no cost
    • mental health evaluation and treatment

Ultimately, it will be our goal that no adolescent is left unprepared as they leave their foster residence and that all children have a safe and clean place to call home.
