about Dr. Carolyn Rowley

bio

Dr. Rowley holds degrees from Loyola Marymount University and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She successfully completed an internship in Pediatric/Child Clinical Psychology with the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Louisville School of Medicine as well as a post-doctoral fellowship in the Research Training Institute at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles. Dr. Rowley also has teaching experience from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIU-C), having taught both Introduction to Psychology and Psychology of Personality.

Before returning home to California, she served as a consulting psychologist consultant to several schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to accepting the post-doctoral position at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, she served as a consulting psychologist consultant to several organizations in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County basin and was the Project Director of the Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project. In 2005, Dr. Rowley began another non-profit organization as a result of her missionary experience to Africa (The Machao Orphanage Foundation - www.machaoorphanage.org). Here, the primary goal is to expand the current facility to house 80-100 orphaned children, complete a clean water project and obtain education sponsors for the children since education in Africa is not free.

Her current book, Creating Your Ultimate Self: The Body, co-authored with Dr. Brenda Grice Laue, is based on her re-known 3-4-4 nutritional method of eating. She is a holistic psychologist and health counselor health and wellness consultant that works with individual clients offering personalized recommendations and support while integrating appropriate food choices with lifestyle options.
